When you think about it, building a cloud server is a lot like building a performance car — there’s a lot riding on the choices you make upfront. First, you want to avoid any major, foreseeable problems, so it’s important to start with a solid base. There’s no point investing all your time and money importing a Honda Civic when it’s easier and more satisfying to get your hands on an Australian-made Holden SS Commodore – a vehicle that will also yield much quicker times!

Why do we need the cloud?

The cloud has opened the door to on-demand computing outside of the physical environment. This allows users to essentially create a new machine in minutes that can be used and then discarded, only be retrieved when needed again. But with all this computing power at our fingertips, how can we maximise its use? How can this on-demand style of infrastructure be used to improve productivity and resource management, and most importantly: why would we need it?

I can’t see the air, but the very fact that I’m alive and breathing proves it’s there. Similarly, I can’t see the Ninefold cloud, but all of our client and staff data is stored there so I know it exists.
