It takes 2 hours, 6 minutes and 57 seconds to transfer and upload data over a distance of 80km via pigeon – and no, that isn’t a typo. In 2009, Unlimited IT in South Africa strapped a data card to Winston the carrier pigeon’s leg and sent him on his way to their Durban office in a race against data uploaded at the same time via the local internet service provider.
